Bahrain Mirror: Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, the largest opposition political group in Bahrain, commented on the Cassation Court's decision to issue a final ruling on Monday (February 19, 2017) dissolving Al-Wefaq Society, stressing that the decision "is part of the implementation of Al-Bandar report plot, which was exposed by a former Arab adviser who worked at the Royal Court after his secession and departure from Bahrain.

Al-Wefaq said in a statement that Al-Bandar's report revealed "a huge plot to dismantle Bahraini society and destroy its components through various routes and methods, including the destruction of political organizations by dissolving and closing them down to reach a state of security control and annihilation of the other opinion."

The opposition group further stated that "the abolition of the opposition is illogical and no rational government would commit such an act, which came as a result of the regime's confusion, severe tension and lack of confidence in itself. For the roots of Al-Wefaq, Wa'ad, Amal and all national forces and figures extend to a great depth and to the history of this country. The elections experience in 2006 and 2010 has recorded the magnitude of Al-Wefaq when it achieved 64% ؜of the votes of Bahrainis. Since its establishment, it still adopts a national [patriotic] project, and saved Bahrain with its rhetoric and action from all the dangerous slippery slopes that some parties in the regime sought to involve Bahrain in."

Al-Wefaq stressed on its commitment to its peaceful work, its program that serves all Bahrainis and work dedicated to the interest of Bahrain and its people, noting that no matter what the authorities do, they will not stop Al-Wefaq from demanding a state of justice and combating corruption, terrorism, plundering of the country's resources and marginalization of citizens from all factions.

Concluding its statement, Al-Wefaq called for vigilance towards the security, political, economic and humanitarian situation, the burying of the country's identity and the ongoing depletion of its funds, stressing on Bahrain's need to shift towards democracy and enabling the will of the people.
