Bahrain Mirror: The High Criminal Court of Appeal rejected the appeal of one out of six defendants, and upheld the 7-year prison sentence issued against them all.

The court had convicted the defendants of the attempted murder of a police officer stationed in the Sitra area near Sitra police station, by attacking the police armored vehicle they were riding with a large number of Molotov cocktails, one of which landed inside the vehicle through an opening.

The prosecution had stated that all the defendants on November 29, 2014: Attempted, along with other unknown suspects, with premeditation, to murder a policeman while and because he was performing his duties. They prepared inflammable Molotov cocktails and attacked the armored vehicle by hurling them at it. They aimed at the opening in the vehicle, intending to kill the policeman for a terrorist purpose. They failed in their attempt, as the victim survived after receiving treatment.

The Prosecution further said that they, along with other unknown persons, participated in a assembly of more than five persons, aimed at committing crimes and disturbing public security by using violence to fulfil the purpose for which they met.

"They acquired and were in possession of Molotov cocktails for the purpose of endangering people's lives and properties," the prosecution added, noting that "the first defendant, along with other unknown suspects, set up replicas of explosives in a public place."
