Bahrain Mirror: The Third Supreme Court of Appeal overruled the appeal against a 3-year imprisonment verdict ruled against a former minister for issuing two cheques without balance to a business from the Gulf. The sum of both cheques is 310 thousands Dinars.

The former Minister was not present at the hearing because he was abroad on a heath treatment trip, according to his lawyer. Therefore, the court overruled his appeal and upheld his imprisonment.

The First Instance Court had ruled the imprisonment of the former minister for 3 years, with a 3000 Dinars to suspend the execution of the ruling.

In his appeal, the former minister's lawyer said that the alleged signatures on the cheques are forged, however, after experts assigned by the court reviewed the cheques, they found that the signatures are valid and correct.
